Field hockey still looking for 2nd win

After opening their season with a win, the Knights have since been in search for their second victory, coming away with just one goal in their next four tries. The Lady Knight field hockey team suffered their fourth-straight loss after dropping two games over the past week, ending the week without an offensive goal.

South Windsor

SEPT. 19—Southington began the week at South Windsor on Monday where they were swept, 5-0, by the Bobcats. South Windsor scored all five of their goals in the first half. Amanda Delorme saved 20 of the Bobcats’ 23 shots on goal. Southington finished the contest without a single shot on goal and just one corner shot.


SEPT. 22—The Knights trekked to Avon a few days later on Thursday and again were shutout, falling to the Falcons, 6-0. Avon scored four goals in the first half and wrapped up the second with a pair of scores. Southington finished with three shots on goal and two corner shots. Delorme saved nine of the Falcons’ 15 shots on goal.

Southington is currently 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCC North. Looking at rankings, the Knights are tied for 23rd out of 27 teams in Class L, tied for 12th out of 16 teams in the CCC, and tied for fourth out of seven teams in the CCC North.

The Knights will look to end their four-game skid this week with games against Enfield (4-0) and Wethersfield (0-6).
