The Plainville Chamber of Commerce will host the 2020 Pizza Feud competition on Wednesday, Mar. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Plainville Veterans of Foreign Wars at 7 Northwest Drive in Plainville.
Pizzas will be judged in several categories. Officials said that businesses do not need to compete in every category, but are required to compete in at least three. Categories include: best sauce, best crust, best “meat” pie, best “creative/specialty” pie, and best “cheese” pie. All pizza restaurants will be entered into a chance to win the People’s Choice award, facilitated by attendees voting by ballot for their favorite pizza.
Participating restaurants will be offered a table or station for their establishment, paper plates and cutlery, and will be included on all advertisement for the event. Restaurants should bring the pizzas they plan on entering, pizza “cutters”, and man power of at least three people to help serve.
All restaurants are required to cut four small slices of pizza in each category that they enter, as those pieces will be given to the judges enabling them to cast their votes for the best pie in each category.
All attendees will be given tickets for each pizza station, and officials say that once an attendee has tried a station “they cannot come back repeatedly.” As attendees sample the different pies they will cast their votes for their favorites.
Beginning at 7:30 awards will be presented to the winners of each category and People’s Choice will be the last awarded.
Those wishing to participate are instructed that registration must be submitted via email by Wednesday, Mar. 4, and should be sent to email@example.com. Those who are looking to learn more should contact the Chamber by calling (860) 747-6867.
