Southington Police announced on August 16, at approximately 2:18 a.m., Kathryn Ford, age 32, of Oakville, CT was stopped for a motor vehicle violation in the area of 1845 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike. During the course of the stop, it was found that the vehicle was not registered or insured. During the stop, SPD K-9 “Kira” was summoned to the scene to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 provided a positive indication of the presence of drugs inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed prescription anti-depressant pills not in their original container, two small baggies of suspected cocaine , wax folds containing an unknown substance, two glass pipes with burnt residue, a metal pipe with burnt residue , a separate container containing suspected cocaine and three needles.
Ford was taken into custody without incident , processed and charged with two counts of illegal possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a prescription drug, illegible marker plate, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to have liability insurance. Ford was held on $10,000 cash or surety bond.
