The Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compounce opens for its 25th season on Oct. 2 and is celebrating this momentous year by hosting its first ever Cosplay Event. The Cosplay Event will allow participants to dress up as their favorite fictional characters from a number of genres. The event is also open to the public, so guests don’t have to be dressed in costumes to observe the creativity.
The event will occur on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m on both days. The event will consist of two contests, a Craftsmanship contest and a Photography contest in which the winner of each contest will be awarded the grand prize of $500.
To enter either contest, guests must purchase a ticket to the Haunted Graveyard Cosplay Event online for a special discounted price of $19.99, or pay $24.99 at the gate. To pay the discounted prices, guests must be a participant in one of the contests. Included in the price of admission are entry to both contests, entry to Lake Compounce and entry to The Haunted Graveyard. Participants will also receive an exclusive complimentary party the first night of the event!
The participants of the Craftsmanship contest will be judged by the creativity and originality of their costumes alongside other guidelines. The key to the Craftsmanship contest is that the participants costume must be handmade and not a costume one can simply buy in the store.
The Photography contest will allow participants to walk through the Haunted Graveyard and utilize the 20 unique sets that are put up as backdrops for their pictures. For this contest participants can either have handmade or store bought costumes. The best photo will win.
“It’s exciting to add another element to the Haunted Graveyard experience,” says Lake Compounce General Manager Jerry Brick in a press release. “I can’t wait to see all the creativity that the participants will bring forth for the contests.”
Both the Haunted Graveyard and Cosplay Event are not recommended for children under the age of 10.
