Julie Rizzo is the new owner of Dance City & the Arts in Factory Square, Southington. The studio will be holding an open house on Aug. 10.

Dance City & The Arts, located in Factory Square, 37 West Center St., Suite 202, in Southington, has announced that Julie Rizzo is the new owner and director at the local dance studio. The studio will hold an open house on Monday, Aug. 10 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Rizzo, born and raised in Hamden, studied dance from the age of three with Gloria Jean’s Studio of Dance. In the year of 2006 she accompanied the DanStarZ team to Germany for the world tap competition where Rizzo’s team placed second out of 31 countries and took home a silver medal.

Rizzo has won many pageants and competitions in the state and entertained at various events in Hamden. The 2008 Hamden High School graduate studied dance and choreography at Saint Joseph College (now the University of Saint Joseph) in West Hartford and graduated in 2012 before moving to Southington.

She worked for Dance City & The Arts for the past three years, teaching and choreographing many classes.
