The Southington Police Department announced that a Hartford man and woman have been arrested for an incident at Lake Compounce Amusement Park on Monday, July 27.
Lake Compounce security received the initial report from an amusement park guest that witnessed Natalie Morales, 33, of Hartford and Luis Santana, 24, exit a ride at the park and take a bag from the baggage storage area that appeared not to belong to them.
The witness overheard Morales telling Santana which bag to select from the storage area. The witness also reported that, after taking the bag, Santana wrapped a towel around it and ran into the men’s bathroom.
Lake Compounce security identified and detained Morales and Santana inside the park. During the investigation, security guards located a debit card, along with various gift cards, and two cell phones.
A second witness observed Santana remove the cards from his sandals and throw them in the woods prior to being detained. The bag that was originally taken was found in a trash can in the men’s bathroom. Other items from inside the bag were found in another trash can inside the Park.
The total value for the items taken during this incident was approximately $1260.
Morales was issued a misdemeanor summons and was charged with fourth degree conspiracy to commit larceny. She was released on a $500 bond with a court date of Aug. 10 at the Bristol Court.
Santana was arrested and charged with fourth degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fourth degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
