A 10th anniversary is causing one business owner to think back on all of the highlights of her career.
Studio 466 Salon and Spa owner Donna Theriault started doing hair professionally in 1988. Although she enjoyed her work and her clients, Theriault always had dreams of going further.
After doing hair for 17 years, she decided it was time to create her own lane in the hair industry.
“I just felt like the time was right,” said Theriault. ”It was something I always had a dreamed, something that I always wanted to do.”
Her dreams came true when she found the space at 466 East St. in Plainville, right over the town line from Southington, which conveniently accommodated many of her clients who were from Plainville, Southington, Bristol, and Farmington.
“I feel like Route 10 is convenient for everyone,” said Theriault.
She said the location proved to be the right place for her business, as her customer base grew more and more every year. Theriault said has expanded her staff over the years to accommodate the influx of clients.
“When I first opened, I had four on my staff,” said Theriault. “Now I have seven and I’m looking to hire more.”
Besides her location in Plainville being central to her customers, Theriault said that finding the right combination of employees has also contributed to the success of her salon.
“Everyone gets along really well and it shows, people tell us that all time,” said Theriault.
She also said an emphasis on education has helped her employees remain up to date with the latest hair trends and allowed the salon to meet the desires of every client.
“In this kind of business, education is really important, things change so much in the hair industry, so we’re constantly keeping up with education,” said Theriault “Everyone has something different that they specialize in, so we have a really good blend to accommodate our clients.”
Studio 466 offers hair appointments, manicures, pedicures, acrylic nails, facials, massages, body waxing, and makeup. With five stylists on staff, the studio is able to take on wedding parties and offer a variety of services. Theriault even said sometimes clients are able to fit multiple services in one visit.
“Sometimes while the color is settling on a client’s hair, they will go upstairs and make an appointment for the spa or maybe get their nails done while they’re here,” said Theriault.
Theriault also said she gets lot of her business through referrals. Clients will recommend the salon and spa to both friends and relatives.
“We get busier every year,” said Theriault.
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary, Studio 466 Salon and Spa is offering 10 percent off all their products as a token of appreciation to customers.
Theriault also said she is hoping to hold an open house some time during the spring.
