Andrew Zymunt’s painting, “Ryoan-ji, A Monk’s Mind Wanders” will be part of a January exhibit at The Gallery at The Orchards.

Andrew Zygmunt, of Marion, will be exhibiting his paintings throughout the month of January at The Gallery at The Orchards.

The title of his show is “Art in All Directions.” Zygmunt specializes in portraits and illustration, but has a wide variety of interests using many mediums. Since the age of five, he has been making toys, games, airplanes, dinosaurs, and boats out of any materials he could find. After high school, he became fascinated by human faces and started copying them and made the jump to classical art in college. He has been drawing and painting ever since.

“I believe that making art is not really what we do with our hands, but what we do with our eyes and the mind behind them,” he said in a press release from The Orchards. “Making art is the best way I have found to relate to the world and learn to see and be aware, which for me is life.”
