Police fish for leads to track down missing lobster

The Southington Police Department is fishing for leads in the disappearance of a decorative lobster statue from the front parking area of the Gulf Shrimp Company on Atwater Street.

The five and a half foot fiberglass lobster, which weighs about 200 pounds, was reported missing on Tuesday, May 7. Police said the statue was likely stolen about a month ago.

The theft report was delayed, as the theft went unnoticed by employees until it was pointed out by a customer.

The lobster is red in color with black painted dots on one side. It has an estimated value of $2,000.

There were no witnesses to the theft and there are no known suspects.
