Two community groups receive grants from fund

The Plainville Community Fund at the Main Street Community Foundation awarded two Plainville community based grants on June 3 totaling $3,218.

Grant recipients are: the Plainville Adult and Continuing Education Program to support the attendance of Plainville students with financial need at a ServSafe Manager Food Protection Course to provide them with the skills necessary to advance their career; and the Plainville Historical Society to purchase archival materials that will be used to preserve historical artifacts.

The Plainville Community Fund was established at the Main Street Community Foundation by a group of Plainville leaders in early 2006 to create an additional resource for charitable projects and programs that would enhance the lives of Plainville residents.

The Main Street Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for both present and future generations in the communities served by encouraging and promoting gift planning, prudent stewardship of assets, effective grant making and community leadership. A nonprofit public charity, created by private citizens, the foundation works with donors in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott who wish to build permanent charitable endowments to support their communities.
