Obituary: Charles W. Impellizzeri, 89

Charles W. Impellizzeri, 89, of Southington, CT, and formerly of Neola, PA, passed away on June 7, 2019 at the Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY.  He was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn (Wroclawski) Impellizzeri for 59 years.

Charles was born in Lyndhurst, NJ on Oct. 20, 1929, the son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Cicio) Impellizzeri.  He was the youngest son among nine children.

Charles earned his Bachelor of Science degree from St. John’s University, NY.  Charles proudly served as a Navy hospital corpsman during the Korean War.  After his military service, Charles begin his career as a research scientist at Hoffman – La Roche Pharmaceutical Co., Nutley, NJ, where he was employed for 37 years.

Charles was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as District Deputy and Grand Knight of several councils.  Upon retirement to the Pocono Mountains in 1996, Charles continued his service ministry as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Victory Church in Tannersville, PA.  Charles very much enjoyed family vacations at Cape Cod, fishing with his grandsons, woodworking and creating stained glass masterpieces.

Charles is survived by his loving children Cheryl Ann Impellizzeri of Southington and Craig W. Impellizzeri and wife Beth of New Milford, his cherished grandsons Christopher and Daniel Impellizzeri, his sister Lucille Wetzel of West Orange, NJ and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, June 16th, at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington, CT, from 2-6 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 17th, at 9:15 am at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Mass at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Road, Southington, CT.  Burial with military honors will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington, CT.
