Joseph E. David Paradis, 86, of Hendersonville, NC and formerly of Southington passed away on January 28, 2019 at Laurel Woods, Columbus, NC. He was the loving husband of Linda Paradis of FL and the late Janet Paradis of Southington.
Born August 30, 1932 in St. Agatha, ME, he was the son of the late Gerard and Catherine (Michaud) Paradis.
Joseph was an atomic war era veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces and retired as a Master Sergeant, Airborne -Jump Master. He served during the Korean and Vietnam War eras. He was very proud of his service and the 95 jumps he made as a paratrooper. He retired from the Southington Post Office after 23 years of service as a letter carrier.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law-law Lois and Brett Davis, and his grandson Michael of Hendersonville, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanine Gandy, and 2 brothers, Donald and Gerald Paradis and their spouse Judy and Dot, all of FL and many in-laws, nieces and nephews who loved ‘Uncle Dave’ dearly. In addition to his first wife Janet he was predeceased by his son Michael David Paradis, 2 brothers, Clifford, Richard, and 2 sisters, Jenny Mae Raymond, and Geraldine Boulier.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 27th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
