Remembering Southington’s sacrifice

Local veteran Norm Giroux, right, reads a proclamation on behalf of American Legion Post 72 during a wreath presentation at Kennedy Middle School on Thursday, Nov. 15. Eighth grade students presented the wreaths to honor Southington’s World War I veterans. Giroux, William Reeves, Wayne White, and Dennis Beauregard, rear, represented the local American Legion. Students made the wreaths out of 465 poppies, which represented the 465 Southington residents that served the nation during WWI.
