On Friday, Oct. 26, Southington police arrested a local man for a domestic violence incident with two victims and a juvenile witness. Slawomir Popielarczyk, 40, of Southington was arrested at approximately 4:53 p.m. for charges stemming from the incident.
Police received a 911 call after Popielarczyk became involved in a verbal argument with the first victim about Popielarczyk attempting to drive intoxicated. The argument drew a second victim into the room. While Popielarczyk attempted to get the telephone from the second victim’s possession, he locked the victim in a choke hold. At this point, the first victim tried to separate the two, and Popielarczyk pushed that victim.
Police said that a juvenile witness became fearful as the scene unfolded and called a third party to the residence for help. Eventually, 911 was called. Officers on scene noted that the juvenile witness was visibly upset.
This is a domestic violence incident and no further information on the victims or the juvenile will be released by police.
Poplielarczyk was charged with risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct. He was released on a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at Bristol court on Oct. 29.
