Lawrence J. “Lee” Manoni, 67, of Southington, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Apple Rehab in Plainville after a short battle with brain cancer. He was the husband of Nancy (Gunterman) Manoni.
Born July 18, 1951 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Barbara (Roser) Manoni.
Lee graduated from the University of Hartford earning both undergraduate and Masters Degrees.
Lee was employed by UTC for 40 years before his retirement August 2017, only 5 short months before his cancer diagnosis. Most recently he was employed by Sikorski (LM) as an avionics engineer in the Blackhawk helicopter group. He was recently inducted into the GCC Hall of Fame, bowling four 300 games and for his service and dedication to the game.
His family would like to thank the 5th floor staff of New Britain General Hospital, Apple Rehab, as well as Dr’s. Wylie Hosmer and Ahmad Daher who treated him for this tragic diagnosis.
In addition to his wife he leaves two sons, Eric Manoni of Southington and Kevin Manoni and wife Caitlin of Bloomfield; a daughter, Julie Modeen and husband Andrew of Middlebury; two brothers, Kenneth Manoni and wife Tina of RI and Richard Manoni of FL; three sisters, Patricia Manoni of Berlin, Linda Manoni of TX and Carol Walley of CT; two grandchildren, Hollis Manoni and Benjamin Modeen and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, 11 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 9-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Brass City Rescue, 5 Service Rd., Middlebury, CT 06762.
