Boys soccer drops 2 in final week

Southington boys soccer was hoping for a strong close to the regular season entering its final three games.

With any fleeting postseason thoughts dashed in the prior week, the Blue Knights hosted Hall on Oct. 22 before heading to Conard for an Oct. 26 matchup. Southington lost 4-2 to Hall on its Senior Night, then dropped a 4-0 road game against Conard.

Southington closed out its season on Tuesday at Northwest Catholic. The Blue Knights had a record of 2-11-2 entering Tuesday’s contest.

Here’s what happened in each game during the past week:

Hall too much to handle

OCT. 22—The Blue Knights were able to find the back of the net twice, but the Warriors doubled the home team’s output and claimed a road victory.

Aundray Latiff and Colin Burdette each scored a goal in their final home game for Southington. John Griffin and Bobby LaCluyze combined for seven saves.

Before the game, Latiff, Burdette, Griffin, LaCluyze, Tyler Salzillo, Eli Rodriguez, Joseph Colaccino and Bryce Worth were honored for their contributions to the program. This year may not have gone the way the seniors wanted, but they still have the memories from their 2017 division title to savor.

Road loss to Conard

OCT. 26—The Blue Knights were shut out in a loss to the Chieftains in West Hartford.

Colaccino made 12 saves for Southington. Shane Carr scored two goals to lead Conard. Justin Rivas and Yusey Tanaka added a goal apiece and Michael Costello made two saves for the clean sheet.
