The Southington veterans committee announced a commemoration for all Vietnam era veterans from Southington.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2:30 p.m., the committee will be presenting Vietnam veteran lapel pins to commemorative partners for dignified public presentations to living U.S. military veterans who served during the Vietnam Conflict. The ceremony will be held at the Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St. and scheduled to coincide with Veterans Day.
Living U.S. veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible. Veterans will be required to present a copy of their DD FM No. 214 to verify their service dates and fill out an application form.
The commemoration is a culmination of a partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemoration Commission and the support of Southington Bread for Life, Southington Community Services, the United Way of Southington, the Gualteri Family, and Fancy Bagels.
The closing date for all applications is Oct. 31, 2018 at 4 p.m.
