Obituary: Joseph Landrie

Joseph H. Landrie, 81, of Southington, passed away on Friday August 17th at HCC @ Bradley. He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. (Grimaldi) Landrie for 53 years.

Joe was born in Jersey City, N.J. on September 13, 1936 and was the son of the late Joseph and Martha (Hackett) Landrie. Joseph was a graduate of Tulane University and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy class of 1959.

He had retired from General Electric as a sales engineer, worked also at Home Depot and was a “favorite” substitute teacher in the ALTA Program.  In his spare time he was an avid golfer. Joe also served as director of Soccer Division B (76-77), was a former member of the Elks Southington Lodge 1661 serving the positions of Chaplin up to Leading Knight.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Brian Landrie of Southington, daughter Debra Landrie and partner Carrie of Playa Del Rey, CA, a sister Lois Hubsmith of NJ along with grandchildren Alyssa and Joey who were the love of his life, sister- in- law Barbara Modifica of New Britain, brother- in- law Ron Moore of North
Carolina, brother and sister- in- law Ralph and Judy Grimaldi of Southington, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Martha Moore and brothers- in- law Bob Hubsmith and Tom Modifica.

The Funeral will be held on Wednesday August 22 at 9:15 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church 99 Bristol St. for a mass at 10am. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 pm. For directions and online condolences please visit
