Anthony William Carson, 97, of Berlin, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, August 18, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Anthony was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Gloria DeFazio Carson.
Born in Hartford, April 9, 1921, a son of the late Nicholas ‘Duke’ and Lucy (Pallotti), he spent his formative years in Hartford and Kensington. He was a participant in the United States Civil Conservation Corp (CCC). He trained as a barber, following in his father’s footsteps. Anthony retired from the State Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Wethersfield, as a maintenance worker and spent his retirement enjoying his family and guiding his grandchildren. He was an accomplished bassist and a member of the New Britain Musician’s Union. Anthony was a singer in the 1950’s and performed in minstrel shows and nightclubs. He is survived by 2 daughters, his devoted caregiver: Lucinda Ann Carson and her partner Christopher Bernard, of Berlin, Jacqueline Carson Willametz (Tom) of Southington, 5 grandchildren, Michael, his caregiver, with whom he resided, Julia, Alan, Emily and Sarah and many nieces and nephews, especially Lisa Ricci. He was also survived by sons-in-laws Lenny Haynes and Randy Green. Besides his wife, Gloria, Anthony was pre-deceased by a daughter: Patricia Green and 2 brothers: Daniel and William
Carson. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Paul Church, 485 Alling Street, Kensington, on Tuesday August 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Maple Cemetery in Berlin. Berlin Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Donations can be may be made to the Southington Bread For Life feeding programs, YMCA of Berlin, New Britain or Southington, Camp Calumet Lutheran of New Hampshire or the American Cancer Society.
