Adrian Valentin, 41, of Waterbury was arrested by Southington police on Wednesday, Aug. 15 on an outstanding warrant stemming from an incident at a local convenience store on Aug. 1.
Police were called to Food Bag at 960 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike on the date of the incident with a complaint that an unknown male entered the store, took a display of Bic lighters, and fled the store. He entered a vehicle that was waiting for him, which was operated by another male, and the pair fled the area.
An officer observed the vehicle as he was responding to the scene. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the operator refused to stop for police.
Based on a description of the vehicle and the officer’s description of the driver, police were able to link the vehicle to Valentin and verify that he was the driver based on DMV license photos. This led to application for an arrest warrant.
Valentin was charged with conspiracy to commit fifth degree larceny and failure to obey an officer’s signal. He was held pending a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bristol court on Aug. 16.
