Man charged with robbery and assault at Target

Police arrested Jose Rodriguez, 30, of Bristol on Wednesday, July 4 for charges stemming from a theft incident at the Southington Target store.

According to police, Rodriguez entered the store at 600 Executive Blvd. and stole sockets, medical supplies, a multi-purpose tool, and two caribiner clamps. He placed them in a backpack and attempted to leave the store.

When he was confronted by the store’s loss prevention associate, Rodriguez was accused of pushing and physically assaulting the employee. Rodriguez then fled the store. He was attempting to leave the scene on a motorcycle when police arrived and took him into custody.

The loss prevention associate suffered minor a minor injury to his arm. Rodriguez also suffered a minor hand injury during the altercation.

Rodriguez was charged with sixth degree larceny, third degree robbery, and third degree assault. He posted a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bristol Court on July 16.
