The Leading Ladies luncheon will be held on Friday, Oct. 13 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington, from noon to 4 p.m. The annual event will celebrate the 2017 Leading Lady Diana Sheard, better known in the community as “Valentine the Clown.”
“Diana is a tireless volunteer in the Greater Hartford area,” officials said in the press release. “She has been visiting patients at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center weekly for the past 20 years and the Hospital of Special Care for 30 years as Valentine.”
Sheard, as Valentine the Clown, is a regular volunteer to a wide variety of local organizations. She is a fixture at fundraisers like the Southington Education Foundation (SEF), Southington’s Town-wide Effort to Promote Success (STEPS), the Church of Saint Dominic, and Southington Community Cultural Arts (SoCCA).
“She is truly a Leading Lady in our community,” officials said in the release.
This year’s luncheon will feature chef and speaker Silvia Baldini, winner of The Food Network’s “Chopped Champion.” Chef Chris Santos of the “Chopped” series declared Baldini’s dessert as “the best dessert on this show ever.”
Baldini is donating an item that will be auctioned off at the luncheon with all proceeds benefitting the Leading Ladies Immediate Response Fund, said the press release. She will provide a cooking class and tasting at the winner’s home, or location of choice, for 12 people.
Tickets for the luncheon cost $40 and are still available. Contact Pattie Dunn at (860) 747-6960 by Friday, Oct. 6 to reserve your seat.
