Obituary: Ernest A. Stanco Jr.

Ernest A. Stanco Jr., 88, of Southington, formerly of Waterbury, passed away at his home on Monday, August 21, 2017 surrounded by his devoted  family.  He was the loving husband of Dianne (Dichele) Stanco.

Ernie was born on April 29, 1929, son of the late Ernest A. Stanco Sr. and Rose (Parziale) Stanco.  Ernie graduated from Leavenworth High School and worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years until his retirement in 1987.  Ernie was also a proud Veteran of the United States Army where he served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was also the former owner of the Robinwood Lunchonette in Waterbury from 1968 to 1973.

Besides his wife Dianne, he leaves behind his four children; Michael Stanco and his wife Joanne of Waterbury, Ernest Stanco III of Florida, Karen Nappi and her husband Mark of Southington and DeeDee Hill and her husband Patrick of Bethlehem, his seven grandchildren; Elisabeth Pasqua and her husband Daniel, Suanne Kolesnik and her husband RJ, Joseph Nappi, Lisa Abucewicz and her husband Kyle, Alyson Hill and her fiancé Peter Cipollone, Ashley Hill and Andrew Stanco, as well as his great grandchildren, Sophia and Cooper Kolesnik, Olivia Pasqua, and several  nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Rose Stein , his brother, Edward Stanco and his daughter-in-law Ceil Stanco.

The family would like to thank Dr. Edmund Caporaso and VITAS Healthcare for the care and compassion given to Ernie during his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Church, 24 Branch Street, Waterbury.  Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the Church. Calling hours with his cremains present, will be held Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
