These are the results for summer season contests for Tuesday, July 11. For more in-depth coverage, read next week’s Southington Observer.


Southington American Legion Baseball: Post 72 earned its second-straight win after edging Terryville (4-18) by a run, 5-4, at home. Southington held a 2-0 advantage with a pair of runs in the fourth inning until Terryville tied the game with three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. After Southington’s first batter grounded out in the sixth, Mason Dibble got on first base on an error made by the catcher. Justin Makles pinch ran for Dibble, and eventually rounded the bases to score the go-ahead run on a passed ball. Bailey Robarge (4-2) got Terryville’s three batters to fly out and ground out twice in the seventh to seal the win. Robarge threw a complete game on the mound with three strikeouts, allowing six hits, four earned runs, and one walk. Southington finished with seven hits, as Brandon Kohl went 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Southington will wrap up the week when it hosts Wolcott (12-10) in its regular season finale tomorrow at 7 p.m. Post 72 is currently 17-6 overall.


Bristol Blues Baseball: The Blues suffered their second-straight loss and bumped down to just a game above .500 on the year after falling, 8-2, at the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (19-13). Five runs in the first inning shot the Dirt Dawgs out to a 6-0 lead after the second. The Blues cut the deficit to four with a pair of runs in the third, but the Dirt Dawgs signed off on the win runs in the next two innings. The Blues mustered just five hits. Max Goione went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI, a run scored, and a home run. Logan Green went 2-for-4. Ross Weiner (3-1) started on the mound and was credited with his first loss of the season after going two innings with four strikeouts, allowing six earned runs, five walks, and three hits. David Stiehl (0-3) relieved Weiner to go three innings with three walks, two strikeouts, two hits, and two earned runs. Hayden Manning closed with four strikeouts. The Blues will wrap up the week with contests against the divisional Worcester Bravehearts (15-18), divisional Pittsfield Suns (18-16), Brockton Rox (19-13), and North Shore Navigators (12-18). Bristol is currently 17-16 overall.
