Golf: Golfers were scheduled to tee off at 7:30 a.m. for the Division I championship, but heavy rains at Fairview Farms Golf Club in Harwinton delayed the championship for about an hour and a half. Once mother nature settled down, hackers finally got out on the links and trudged through near-40-degree weather. Nate L’Heureux led the Blue Knights to a 13th-place finish out of 20 teams with a score of 330 (42-over-par), tying for 23rd with several other golfers in the field by firing a 78 (6-over-par). Max Chubet recorded Southington’s second-best round after carding an 81. CJ McManus (83), Cam Zegzdryn (88), and Mike Zera (88) contributed as well. Xavier (301, 13-over-par) edged Greenwich (307, 19-over-par) by six strokes to claim the Division I title.
Softball: Southington’s Class LL semifinal game against No. 2 Cheshire (22-1) was postponed to Thursday, due to rain. The sixth-seeded Knights will play the Rams at DeLuca Field in Stratford at 7 p.m. No. 5 Stamford (21-2) will play No. 9 Trumbull (19-4) in the other semifinal game the same day at DeLuca Field at 4 p.m. Southington is currently 21-2 overall.
Bristol Blues Baseball: Bristol’s road game against the Pittsfield Suns (4-0) was postponed to Wednesday, June 7. The Blues are currently 0-3 overall.
