3PL brings hundreds of local jobs

The economic development office has another one for the books here in Southington. 3PL Worldwide Inc. fulfillment company has leased 144,000 square feet of the former Pratt and Whitney site at 75 Aircraft Rd. after outgrowing their space in Milford.

The transfer is bringing 80 jobs from Milford, and the company anticipates adding 70 to 120 more.

Economic development coordinator Lou Perillo said 3PL is looking to open in mid-February with expansion plans already underway. The company hopes to ultimately obtain about 300,000 square feet of the property.

The factory needed renovations to suit their needs, but with the help of the Southington Planning and Zoning Commission and Southington Fire Department, the turn-around was fast.

“It was great teamwork,” Perillo said. “These are a lot of jobs that fit well for our area. The fact that a Connecticut business moved here is great news for the town and the state.”
