Obituary: Louis ‘Louie’ David DeSorbo Sr., 72

Louis “Louie” David DeSorbo Sr., 72, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Southington, CT passed away January 8, 2017 in Florida.   He was the beloved husband and soul mate of Charlene (Stone) DeSorbo.

He was born in Bristol, the son of the late Louis M. and Catherine (Mongillo) DeSorbo.  Louie was a Vietnam-Era US Army Veteran before returning home to continue his life and build his family. Louie spent most of his career building our roads, and finished his career as a Highway Construction Superintendent. Louie loved people, and was active in his local community. In Florida, he was the VP of his Bocce Club and a member of the Golf league. While in Southington, he was a member of the Scarpa Shoda and the Wolcott Land Owners Association. He loved fishing, golfing and hunting. Above all, he loved his family and friends, whom he took great joy in entertaining. He and his wife worked tirelessly to ensure everyone around them was laughing and having a great time. His broad smile, quick wit, and infectious laughter will be sorely missed by all who’ve been blessed to know him.

In addition to his wife, Louie is survived by his children: son Louis D. DeSorbo Jr. and his wife Deb, son David DePastino and his partner Erin, and daughter Darlene Wilton. He also leaves eight grandchildren: Joseph Wilton, Sherri-Lynn Wilton, Jesse Wilton, Cory Zibell, Kyle Zibell, Logan DePastino, and Michael DeSorbo, as well as three great grand- children and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Deanne Zibell.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at 9:15 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. at 10 am. Burial with military honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Memorial calling hours will be on Friday from 6-8 pm.
