Local couple celebrates 70 years of marriage

Trudy and Arthur Main celebrated 70 years of marriage during an anniversary party at Mulberry Gardens.

Arthur and Trudy Main still look like newlyweds as they cuddle for a picture at Mulberry Gardens. The couple recently celebrated 70 years of wedded bliss.

On Monday, Dec. 26, Mulberry Gardens of Southington recognized the couple at an anniversary celebration. The Mains moved to Mulberry Gardens, located at 58 Mulberry St. in Plantsville, in February 2016. Family and friends joined in the festivities.

The couple married in St. George, Utah on Dec. 26, 1946. Before moving to Mulberry Gardens, they lived in Milford, Conn. then Port Orange, Fla. Together they share six children, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren with more on the way.

Their favorite pastime includes traveling around the world with Australia and Hawaii as their top recommendations.

“Art and Trudy are known is be inseparable at Mulberry Gardens, holding hands every chance they get,” Mulberry Gardens activities director Donna Johnson said in a press release.

When asked about the key to their successful marriage they said “loving each other and getting along at all times,” according to Johnson.
