Winning on an off week

Snow canceled the only team meet scheduled during the holiday week, but the Knights still managed to capture a few titles.

On Tuesday, Dec. 27 the annual Hartford Public developmental meet was canceled due to winter weather, but a Lady Knight shot putter and two pole vaulters competed later in the week, scoring wins in two events.

On Wednesday, Dec. 28, Megan Biscoglio set a personal best and scored second place in the pole vault competition (10’6”) at the Wilton Wright Invitational at Southington Connecticut State University. Zach Burleigh (10’6”) finished fourth in the boys competition.

The following day, they were at it again. This time, Biscoglio came away with a meet title at the Hillhouse Winter Relays in New Haven. Southington didn’t participate in the relays event, but Biscoglio matched her personal best to claim the top spot in the pole vault. Burleigh (10’0”) tied for fifth place overall in the boys individual competition.

On Friday, Amanda Howe set a personal best in the shot put to claim the girls title at the Hillhouse Qualifier Meet in New Haven. Howe cleared 37 feet to beat 20 throwers from across the state.

Southington will return to team competition this week with the rescheduled Hartford Public meet on Monday before returning to New Haven for the Elm City Relays on Friday and Saturday.
