Boys basketball lose to Weaver, Cheshire

The Blue Knight basketball team extended their losing streak to three games by dropping two more games this past week.

Loss vs. Weaver

DEC. 28—Southington hosted Weaver in their first home game of the season and fell, 53-44. The Beavers held a 27-24 lead at halftime. Brendan Taylor paced the offense with 20 points. Jeremy Mercier contributed with 11 points.

Loss at Cheshire

DEC. 30—A couple days later, the Knights hit the road for their first non-conference matchup of the year. Southington traveled to Cheshire where they fell, 45-27, to the winless Rams.

Cheshire led Southington, 25-14, at halftime. The Knights failed to put up double-digits in any of the four quarters, scoring a low of just four points in the third quarter.

Mercier led the offense with a team high of six points. Tim O’Shea and Tim Walsh contributed with four points apiece.

The Knights will look to break out of their current funk in search of their first win of the season this week with games against Glastonbury (0-4) and Windsor (4-1).

Southington is currently 0-3 overall and 0-1 in CCC Central Blue Division.
