Members of the Southington Police Department and the Police Cadets, along with civilian personnel, family members, and friends, will be at the Southington Walmart, collecting toys and gifts for the annual “Stuff a Cruiser” event. This event, began by an officer trying to help out a family after their Christmas was literally stolen, has grown into an annual tradition.
The event will run at the Southington Walmart, 235 Queen St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Police are asking for the public’s help in collecting items for younger children, pre-teens, and teens. These items include such things as clothing, blankets, bedding, coats and other winter outerwear, along with shoes and other needed items.
All of the items collected will be donated to Southington Community Services and will be distributed to needy families in the greater Southington area. In the past, this drive has generated large amounts of donations and has helped a number of local families during the holiday season.
