A Southington man was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman at the Southington Walmart on Friday, Nov. 25. Kenneth Johnson, 55, of Southington was charged with fourth degree sexual assault and second degree breach of peace.

Police were called to the store at 235 Queen St. at approximately 7:53 p.m. on a report that a customer was inappropriately touched by another customer. The victim reported that she was shopping in the men’s section when she felt someone (Johnson) bump into her. She ignored the bump, thinking that it was possibly accidental.

A short time later, the victim reported that Johnson allegedly grabbed and squeezed her buttocks. The victim pushed him away, and they walked toward the front of the store. Johnson got into a vehicle and left the scene before police arrived.

Johnson’s vehicle was stopped on Queen Street by a responding officer, and he was identified by the victim. Johnson was taken into custody without incident. He was later released on a $5,000 bond and given a court appearance date of Dec. 5, 2016 at the Bristol Superior Court.
