Registration for the following classes and programs, unless otherwise noted, can be made at the Southington Recreation Department at (860) 276-6219. Checks should be payable to Town of Southington. SANTA IN THE PARK—Sunday, Nov. 27, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Southington Drive-In community pavilion, 995 Meriden Waterbury Tpk. This event is free of charge. Southington children ages 10 and under can meet Santa and share their Christmas wishes. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, treat bags for the children, music of the season, fun with Valentine the Clown and light refreshments provided by the American Legion Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary Junior Girls Unit 72.

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL OPEN GYM—Mondays, Nov. 28 to Dec. 19, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the DePaolo Middle School gym. Open to teams/players from the Recreation Department winter basketball program. More info at www.southington.org/basketball.

 

SOUTHINGTON YOUTH WRESTLING (LATE REGISTRATION)—Through Nov. 30. Cost is $125 ($105 for each additional child). Contact: Dave Kanute, (860) 621-5494. Forms and info at www.southington.org/wrestling.

 

HOLIDAY LIGHT DISPLAY ‘SWITCH FLIPPER’ CONTEST—Through Friday, Nov. 27. (Winner selected at random on Monday, Nov. 28). Open to Southington children, 3 to 10 years old. The holiday lights display on the Southington town green will be turned on at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 during the “White Christmas in the Community” event in downtown Southington and downtown Plantsville. One entry per child. Visit www.southington.org/HolidayLights to enter.

 

MEN’S WINTER BASKETBALL PROGRAM—Registration open through Friday, Dec. 16. Games will begin in January. Open to Southington residents or Southington High School graduates 18 years or older. Proof of residency is required. Cost is $425 per team with a maximum of 3 non-resident/non-SHS grads per team ($50 per player). Forms and info at www.southington.org/basketball.

 

BUS TRIPS

For additional information and cost, visit www.southington.org/BusTrips. Payment is due at registration. All trips are non-smoking and non-alcoholic. Insurance is available. Trips depart from the commuter lot in Cheshire on Route 10, close to the I-691. Checks should be made payable to Town of Southington. Contact the Recreation Dept at (860) 276-6219.
