Swimmers best Berlin in finale

swimming-shsThe Lady Knight swimming and diving team wrapped up their regular season with a 91-87 victory at Berlin on Tuesday, Oct. 25, earning their fourth-straight win.

The following achieved first-place performances: Olivia Fournier in the 50 freestyle (25.31) and 100 freestyle (55.70); Kerry Buchanan in the 200 freestyle (2:09.90) and 500 freestyle (5:48.00); Jess Piotrowski in the 200 individual medley (2:31.88); Patrycja Zajac in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.13); Piotrowksi, Zajac, Hannah Olsen, and Fournier in the 200 medley relay (2:06.14); Olsen, Kailey Hinckley, Buchanan, and Fournier in the 200 freestyle relay (1:49.75); and Buchanan, Julianna Ferreri, Evelyn Holbrook, and Piotrowski in the 400 freestyle relay (4:18.70).

Madison Osakowicz (171.9) and Alyssa Aulbach (139.85) each dove for season bests as well, finishing fourth and fifth.

Southington finished the regular season at 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the CCC South White Division (6-2 CCC South Region). The following are qualified for the Class LL meet: Fournier (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle), Buchanan (500 freestyle, 200 freestyle), Zajac (100 breaststroke), Madison Osakowicz (diving), and Olsen (50 freestyle).

The Knights will swim against the top teams in the conference when they travel to the Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford on Wednesday, Nov. 2 for the CCC Championship.

Osakowicz will represent Southington in the CCC Diving Championship at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
