Since facing elimination in the middle of October, the Lady Knight field hockey team has been on a roll. Southington posted two more wins last week to improve to 5-10.

Southington earned their third shutout of the season with a 2-0 win over NW Catholic in West Hartford on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Isabella DiBattista got the Knights rolling with a goal just inside of 10 minutes to go in the first half. Sydney Rice capped off the victory with a goal midway through the second half.

Southington took five shots on goal and six penalty corners. Amanda Delorme saved all eight of NW Catholic’s shots on goal.

The Knights returned home on Friday to wrap up the week with their third-straight victory. The locals recorded the most offensive goals in a game this season, defeating EO Smith, 6-2.

DiBattista, Rice, Alexa Zborowski, and Hallie Altwies each scored a goal in the first half. Nicole Martocchio joined the scoring frenzy with a goal midway through the second half, and DiBattista added her second goal of the game moments later. Bianca D’Amore contributed with an assist.

The Panthers scored both of their goals in the second half.

Southington took nine shots on goal and eight penalty corners. Delorme saved three of EO Smith’s seven shots on goal.

The Knights will close out the regular season this week with a rematch at Canton (6-8). Canton defeated Southington, 7-1, in the first matchup between the teams.
