It was business as usual for the Lady Knight volleyball team this past week as Southington came away with three wins without dropping a single set. Southington finished the week without facing at least one team in the top 17 in the CCC for the first time this season.

Win at Weaver

OCT. 18—Southington began the week in Hartford on Tuesday where they chomped the Beavers at Weaver, 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-10).

Hannah Zelina (2 digs) led the offense with five kills and went 8-for-10 serving with three aces. Erica Daigle (9 assists) went 16-for-16 serving with six aces. Emily Tinyszin and Julia Wells each had a block. Sarah Myrick (3 kills) anchored the defense with three digs. Stephanie Zera dished out 10 assists. Morgan Raymond (2 digs) contributed with four kills.

Win at Maloney

OCT. 20—The Knights remained out on the road a couple days later in the Meriden, slaying the Spartans at Maloney, 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-8).

Raymond and Megan Mahon (4 assists, 2 digs) attacked the net with seven kills each. Raymond also anchored the defense with six digs. Mahon and Erica Bruno (5 kills) stood tall up front with a pair of blocks apiece. Zelina (5 kills, 4 digs) was perfect behind the service line, going 23-for-23 with seven aces. Daigle went 13-for-15 serving with four aces. Zera went 6-for-7 behind the line with three aces and set up outside hitters with 20 assists. Kelly Kritz (3 kills, 2 digs) went 10-for-12 with three aces. Nolyn Allen contributed with five digs.

Win at Windsor

OCT. 21—Southington rounded out the week with their fourth-straight road match when they visited Windsor on Friday, wiping out the Warriors to earn their seventh-straight win with a 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-9, 25-13).

Kritz (2 digs) powered the offense with 11 kills. Daigle (5 assists, 2 digs) went 20-for-21 serving with seven aces. Raymond (6 kills) went 12-for-13 from the service line with five aces and anchored the defense with 17 digs. Tinyszin went 4-for-4 serving with three aces. Zera (3 digs) went 9-for-9 serving with three aces and dished out 18 assists. Zelina (7 kills, 3 digs) was big up front with a pair of blocks. Mahon (5 kills), Bruno (3 kills), Allen (5 digs), Cassidy Herrick (6 digs), and Julia Wells (3 digs) contributed as well.

Southington is currently 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the CCC Central Blue Division (6-2 in the CCC Central Region). The Knights will look to fight for seeding in the Class LL tournament this week when they close out the regular season with matches against Bulkeley (0-15), Glastonbury (12-3), and Pomperaug (12-3).

Wednesday’s match at Pomperaug will mark Southington’s second out-of-conference match of the season. Pomperaug is currently second in the SWC and Glastonbury is tied for sixth with Southington in the CCC.
