Scoreboard: Sports results on Tuesday, Oct. 25


These are the results for Southington High School’s varsity contests for Tuesday, Oct. 25. For more in-depth coverage, read next week’s Southington Observer.


Field Hockey: After ending their five-game losing streak with a win last Friday, Southington extended their winning streak to two games with a 2-0 victory at Northwest Catholic (2-8-3). The Lady Knights are currently 4-10 overall.

Girls Soccer: Southington finished the day with their first tie of the season after settling with a 2-2 draw against Conard (4-6-4) at home. Natalie Verderame scored the first goal of the game on a breakaway, less than a minute into the contest. After Conard took a one-goal lead, Verderame then scored the team’s second goal off of a rebound on a shot by Nikki Carter early in the second half. The Lady Knights are currently 10-3-1 overall.

Girls Swimming & Diving: Southington completed their regular season with a 91-87 victory at Berlin, finishing on a four-meet winning streak. The following achieved first-place performances: Olivia Fournier in the 50 freestyle (25.31) and 100 freestyle (55.70); Kerry Buchanan in the 200 freestyle (2:09.90) and 500 freestyle (5:48.00); Jess Piotrowski in the 200 individual medley (2:31.88); Patrycja Zajac in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.13); Piotrowksi, Zajac, Hannah Olsen, and Fournier in the 200 medley relay (2:06.14); Olsen, Kailey Hinckley, Buchanan, and Fournier in the 200 freestyle relay (1:49.75); and Buchanan, Julianna Ferreri, Evelyn Holbrook, and Piotrowski in the 400 freestyle relay (4:18.70). The Lady Knights finished the regular season at 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the CCC South White Division (6-2 CCC South Region).

Girls Volleyball: Southington earned their ninth-straight win by blanking Glastonbury (13-4) at home, 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-22). Stephanie Zera (5 digs, 1 block) went 23-for-25 behind the service line with four aces and dished out 23 assists. The Lady Knights finished at 4-0 in the CCC Central Blue Division and 8-2 in the CCC Central Region, leaving the division title up for grabs. The Lady Knights are currently 14-3 overall.
