To the editor:

Thank you to all the 2016 Team Lauryn members who made this year’s Lauryn E. Ossola SHS Swim and Dive Team Scholarship 5K/5-mile Walk/Run fundraiser at the Apple Harvest Festival Road Races another memorable day and successful event. We’ve heard so many positive comments about how heartwarming it was to see the course flooded with our coral colored Team Lauryn shirts.

We thank family and friends from near and far, as well as coaches, swimmers, and families of the SHS Swim Team and YMCA Rays for their enthusiastic support and participation.

We also thank folks who were unable to walk or run, but who generously donated to the scholarship fund in Lauryn’s memory.

Your participation and generosity make it possible for us to continue offering this scholarship to a deserving young woman each May. Carrying on Lauryn’s legacy of kindness, enthusiasm, and hard work continues to help us in our healing, and we believe she is smiling down on each and every one of us as we take part in this event in her memory.

A very special thank you to John Myers and the YMCA staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to bring this incredible hometown race to us each year. Including Team Lauryn in this Apple Harvest event is very special to those of us who know how much Lauryn loved Southington’s Apple Harvest Festival each year.

It is difficult to express the deep gratitude we have for such continued overwhelming support and kindness. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Lisa, Jerry, and Ellen Ossola, Southington
