The Lady Knight soccer team bounced back from their six-point loss to Glastonbury the week prior with a pair of victories this past week, doing so without allowing a single goal in their net.

Win vs. Bristol Central

SEPT. 27—The Knights began the week with a 2-0 shutout over Bristol Central at home on Tuesday.

Natalie Verderame scored Southington’s first goal of the game at the 25-minute mark of the first half. Katherine Crouse capped off the win with a goal early in the second half for some insurance. Taylor Hubert contributed with an assist.

Southington finished with 15 shots on goal and five corner kicks. Janelle Mangassarian saved all five of Bristol Central’s shots on goal.

Win @ New Britain

SEPT. 30—Southington earned its fourth win and fourth shutout on the year on Friday with a 3-0 sweep at New Britain.

Verderame continued the offensive onslaught and missed the hat trick with a pair of scores in the first and second halves. Ariana Gazaferi added a goal with seconds left in the game. Hubert, Alijah Vega, and Rylee Van Epps contributed with assists.

Southington finished with 18 shots on goal and six corner kicks. Mangassarian had two saves.

Southington is currently 4-3 overall and 0-3 in the CCC Central Blue. Looking at rankings, the Knights are tied for 19th out of 38 teams in Class LL, tied for 13th out of 31 teams in the CCC, and fifth out of five teams in the CCC Central Blue.

The Knights are three wins away from clinching a berth for the state tournament and will look to continue their winning streak this week with games against Windsor (1-6) and Hall (4-2-2).
