After receiving a call from the Main Department of Corrections (MDC), Southington police tracked a fugitive to Motel 6, at 625 Queen St. As a result, Clinton Damboise of Readfield, Maine, was taken into custody at the motel.
On Friday, Sept. 30, the MDC fugitive division advised local police that they had a full extraditable warrant out of the State of Maine related to a burglary charge. It was also learned that Damboise was the suspect in a bank robbery in central Maine. During the course of the robbery, Damboise made reference to being in possession of a handgun.
It was confirmed by Southington officers that Damboise had rented a room at the motel. The area was secured and contact was made with Damboise. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident. He was charged with being a fugitive from justice and was held on a$1 million bond.
He was scheduled to appear in Bristol court on Oct. 3 to answer the current charge and await extradition to Maine.
