On Monday, Sept. 5, Bernhard Kaschke, 48, of Southington was arrested after threatening to kill a victim and turn the gun on himself.
Officers were dispatched to 95 Knowles Ave. at approximately 10:20 p.m. after receiving reports about a domestic dispute. According to the investigation, Kaschke was invovled in a verbal argument with the victim which quickly escalated.
The investigation showed that Kaschke took a handgun out of the closet and allegedly pushed the victim down on a bed, standing over the victim and holding the victim’s shoulder down on the bed. At this point, Kaschke allegedly held the gun against the victim’s neck and threatened to kill them both.
The victim was able to exit the bedroom and call 911.
Based on the investigation, Kaschke was arrested and charged with second degree threatening, first degree reckless endangerment, second degree breach of peace, and unlawful restraint. He was held on a $50,000 bond and appeared in court on Sept. 6.
The incident is categorized as domestic violence and no further information on the victim will be released. The handgun involved in the incident was seized by officers.
