The water wells affected by a chemical spill on Spring Street last week have gone back on-line.
In a written statement, the Southington Water Department said, “After considerable review of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s (DEEP) remediation process and sample results from the Quinnipiac River, the Southington Water Department (SWD) is confident there is no imminent threat to its ground water supply. As a result, the two wells that were temporarily turned off will be reactivated. SWD will continue to perform weekly samples of the Quinnipiac River and the well sites for the next three months, at which time the Department will assess if monitoring will continue based on these results. These sample results will be made available upon request.”
