To the editor:
Hartford’s Mayor Bronin recently published, “With Hartford In Fiscal Quagmire, Bronin Making A Case For Towns To Step Up” in the Hartford Courant on-line on Aug. 5.
There are so many reasons why I don’t want to be part of the spending priorities and operation policies of cities like New Haven, Hartford, and Bridgeport. Why are they spending taxpayer dollars to support their sanctuary city philosophy? Why aren’t all illegal aliens reported and presented to the Federal Authority. Illegal aliens are not difficult to locate. Why are non-citizens given city IDs? At the state level, illegal aliens are given driver licenses which are sure to lead to voter fraud.
This in another case where illegal aliens identify themselves and should be taken into custody.
Regional sharing of equipment looks reasonable, but is a ruse to march toward regional taxation. State Senator Martin Looney’s “historic” property tax reform is a step toward that.
It would be nice to share a street cleaning vehicle. Not so nice to share the responsibilities for paying the high wages and benefits that public service unions demand from their big city politicians. Do you want Hartford, New Haven, and Bridgeport to control regional education?
Hartford behaves like an independent country and should be treated that way. Any discussion of shared responsibilities must start with ending its sanctuary city policy and removal of all illegal aliens. I have heard Democrat state representatives already selling the shared equipment scheme and the notion that we all must support Hartford financially because of we share the benefits of Hartford.
Vote Democrat if you agree with these Democrat politicians. Otherwise, there is a Republican alternative.
