Louis Francis Meccariello, 95, of Southington, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at home.
He was born August 11, 1921 in Southington, the son of the late Domenic and Anna (Nardi) Meccariello. He had retired from Ideal Forging where he was the superintendent of the entire tool and die division. Louis was a major contributor and benefactor of the Sons of Italy which was his second family. He was also a parishioner and major contributor of St. Thomas Church. He was a WWII U. S. Army veteran who served in France in the artillery division as an anti-aircraft artillery gunner. He enjoyed wood working and was an avid reader. He loved to spend time with family and friends and loved to vacation at Wildwood, NJ.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Mary Meccariello of Southington, Nancy and her husband Gregg White of N.H. , Patricia and her husband Mark Mongillo of Southington, Joseph and his wife Kathy Meccariello of PA, Anita and her husband Roy Andersch of NC, and Elaine “Pinky” and her husband John Stearn of PA, and Richard’s wife Elaine Meccariello as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Pasquale “Pat” and Carl Meccariello and his nephew Richard Meccariello.
The Funeral will be held Monday 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Southington Catholic School, 133 Bristol St. Southington, CT 06489.
