Waterbury man arrested for strangulation

Police - Ashami Curry 082216Ashami Curry, 26, of Waterbury was arrested by police on Monday, Aug. 22 after a domestic violence investigation on Darling Street in Southington at approximately 3:45 a.m.

According to police, Curry went to the victim’s residence, grabbed the victim by the neck as the victim was laying in bed, and attempted to strangle the victim. Curry fled the scene prior to police arrival, but he was later located in Waterbury by the Waterbury Police Department. The Victim had visible injuries, but refused medical attention on scene from ambulance personnel.

Curry was arrested at his residence, taken into custody without incident, and was transported to Southington where he was charged with third degree assault, second degree strangulation, and second degree breach of peace. He was processed and held on a $10,000 bond.
