Obituary: Marie Helen (Aldi) Susco, 89

Obit - Marie SuscoIt is with great sadness that we share the passing of Marie Helen (Aldi) Susco.  Surrounded by her loving family, Marie entered God’s loving arms on Thursday, August 18, 2016.  Marie was the beloved wife of Vincent F. Susco Sr. for the past 67 years.

Marie was born in her childhood home on Germania St, in Southington on May 15, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Helen Thomasino Aldi and Joseph Aldi. She graduated from Lewis High School in 1945 and attended Hairdressing School in Hartford.  She worked in several Beauty Salons before retiring at the age of 70.   She loved her work, and many of her clients became close friends. Marie married Vincent in May of 1949 and they built their home on Belleview Ave where they raised their family.

In addition to her loving husband Vincent, Marie is survived by her devoted children, Vincent Jr., Christine, Susan and Joseph.  She was a loving mother in-law to Kelly Susco, Kenneth Julian, Robert Michel and Deborah Susco. She was a treasured grandmother to David and Christina Susco, Laura and Rachel Julian, Joseph Michel, Shayla Michel Linder and her husband Darin, Jacqueline, Natalie and Arianna Susco; and great-grandmother to precious Owen Linder.

Marie loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them whether it was at the beach or in her kitchen, teaching them the secrets of her renowned pepper biscuits. Marie was the matriarch of an extended Italian family. After her debilitating stroke in 2010, many relatives and friends traveled long distances to comfort her.  An avid tennis player, she truly missed her time on the court. Although unable to be independent, Marie never lost her sense of humor, her courage, determination or selflessness. She will be forever loved and missed.

Marie also leaves behind her beloved sister Elaine Wells, as well as her sisters- in -law, Jeanette Aldi and Maryjane Malespini and her husband Sebastian, and brothers-in-law Jack Susco and his wife Rita, and John Walonski.

She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Aldi, her sister-in-law Josephine Walonski and her beautiful niece Nancy Aldi Freeman.

Many thanks to the numerous relatives and friends who held her so closely in their hearts.
