Police arrested a Cheshire woman for drunk driving with her child in the car. Dianna Stapleton-St. Germaine, 49, was taken into custody after police received tips about an erratic vehicle on Meriden Waterbury Turnpike in Southington.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Aug. 5 after receiving reports about the vehicle on Meriden Waterbury Turnpike in the area of Meriden Avenue. The witness, in the area of Tridell Drive, reported that the vehicle was swerving with the lane, and it crossed the double yellow center line several times. The witness reported that Stapleton-St. Germain’s vehicle may have possibly sideswiped a vehicle traveling in the other direction. It was also reported that a child was possibly in the vehicle.
Police found the vehicle with a 5 year old child in a child safety seat in the rear of the vehicle. The driver’s side mirror of the vehicle was moved inward, which supported the report that her vehicle and another vehicle sideswiped. Police did not locate a second vehicle.
Based on the officer’s on-scene investigation, the standardized field sobriety tests were administered, and according to the report, Stapleton-St. Germaine did not perform the tests to the standard. She was taken into custody without incident.

She was processed and released on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Court on Aug. 15, 2016. The child was not injured and was picked up by a neighbor.
