Last year’s 5-mile winner was Southington High School graduate John Longo. Who will win this year’s race?

The Southington Community YMCA will be conducting its 37th annual Apple Harvest Festival Road Race event on Sunday, Oct. 2. Registration for the 5 Mile, 5K, 2 Mile Walk, and Little Fritter Run is now open.

Cost for the 5-mile and the 5K events is still $22 for pre-registrants ($27 on race day). The Little Fritter Fun runs and the 2 mile walk still costs $10 ($15 on race day).

This year’s event will include a number of changes.

Officials will now offer a military discount to any active military member for the 5-mile and 5K races ($17). A new military division has been added which will have trophies for the top finishers.

Also new this year, the Southington Community YMCA is opening up the t-shirt design process to the community. Think you have the talent to design this year’s road race t-shirt? Design a 12 inch by 16 inch design with a maximum of four colors on any color background.

Participants that preregister by Monday, Sept. 19 will receive a free t-shirt, but early registrants will also have the option to upgrade the t-shirt to a Sport-Tec Competitor tee for an addition $5 (short sleeve) or $8 (long sleeve). Upgrades are only available through Sept. 19.
