The Bristol Blues fell to the North Shore Navigators by a score of 11-3 Sunday night at Muzzy Field. Jared Gallagher (CCSU) got the nod for the Blues and struggled with location early, yielding two early runs before settling down and striking down 8 in 4.1 innings of work. The Blues did tie the game up at 3-3 in the bottom of the 5th. Back to back hits from Brandon Grover and James Brown (Wilkes) cut the deficit to 3-2, before Logan Greene (UMASS) drove in the tying run on a ground out. However, the Navigators pulled away in the later innings, putting up six runs in innings six through eight. The Blues struggled at the dish for most of the day, however Brandon Grover (Bentley) had himself a day at the plate, finishing 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Shane Bierfeldt (Western CT State) made his Blues debut, tossing 1.1 innings of one run ball (unearned) on two hits and no walks. The Blues are off tomorrow before returning to Muzzy Field on Tuesday for the second game in a two game series against the North Shore Navigators.
