Southington Police dispatchers received an anonymous report about potential drug activity, and that led to the arrest of a local man.
On July 5, at approximately 2:16 p.m., David Plourde, 31, of Southington was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation began when police received a report that Plourde was seen consuming drugs and then getting into a vehicle and driving away. A description of Plourde’s vehicle was provided to dispatch, and an officer observed Plourde’s vehicle in traffic on Main Street, in the area of Berlin Ave.
A traffic stop was conducted, and during the stop Plourde displayed indicators of being under the influence of drugs. He was patted down, and police found five baggies containing heroin, along with a needle. The heroin was found in a cigarette box and the needle was in a container.
Plourde was taken into custody without incident. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on July 18, 2016.
